Wieder Kati

Wieder Kati s-a născut în 1926 în Baia Sprie (județ Sătmar atunci). A crescut într-o familie de mici comercianți. Pe mama ei a chemat-o Junger Ilona. Kati și familia ei au fost forțați în ghetoul de pe Valea Borcutului în aprilie 1944 de autoritățile germane și maghiare. La finalul lunii mai 1944 au fost deportați cu trenul spre Auschwitz. Kati a supraviețuit. Portretul lui Kati este parte a expoziției Vecinii mei, evreii.

Wieder Kati 1926-ban született Felsőbányán (Szatmár megye akkor). Kiskereskedők családjában nőtt fel. Édesanyját Junger Ilonának hívták. Katit és családját 1944 áprilisában a Borkúti gettóba kényszerítették a német és magyar hatóságok. 1944 május végén vonattal Auschwitzba deportálták őket. Kati túlélte. Kati portréja a Szomszédaim, zsidók című kiállítás része.

Wieder Kati was born in 1926 in Baia Sprie ( Sătmar county then, Romania). She grew up in a family of small traders. Her mother was Junger Ilona. Kati and her family were forced into the Valea Borcutului ghetto in April 1944 by the german and hungarian authorities. At the end of May 1944 they were deported by train to Auschwitz. Kati survived. Kati’s portrait is part of the exhibition My Neighbors, Jews.
