Gisella Perl, „îngerul” născut în Sighetu Marmației

🇷🇴 Gisella Perl s-a născut în 10 decembrie 1907, la Sighetu Marmației.

Și-a finalizat studiile de medicină la Berlin și s-a reîntors la Sighet, aici s-a căsătorit cu un medic chirurg cu care a avut doi copii. Vorbea maghiară, română, germană, franceză și idiș.

Viața ei s-a schimbat dramatic în primăvara anului 1944, când evreii din Sighetu Marmației au fost târâți în ghetou și într-un final deportați de autoritățile germane, în colaborare cu autoritățile fasicste maghiare.

Gisella Perl a fost deportată împreună cu soțul, fiul adolescent, părinții, frații și sora, precum și familiile acestora. Gisella este singura supraviețuitoare din familia ei deportată. Fiica ei a fost salvată de o familie din Sighet înainte de deportare.

În Auschwitz Gisella Perl a salvat viața femeilor însărcinate care urmau să fie supuse experimentelor lui Mengele, întrerupându-le sarcina. Ea a declarat ulterior:„cea mai mare crimă în Auschwtiz era să rămâi însărcinată!”. Această muncă a marcat-o pentru tot restul vieții.

După eliberare a continuat să profeseze în New York, apoi în Israel, iar în cei 43 de ani de activitate profesională a adus pe lume peste 3.000 de copii.

În anul 2003, pe baza cărții „Am fost doctoriță la Auschwitz” scrisă de Gisella Perl s-a realizat filmul artistic „Out of the Ashes”.

„Îngerul de la Auschwitz” a murit în 17 decembrie 1988 în Herzliya, Israel.

Orvosi tanulmányait Berlinben végezte el és visszatért Szigetre, ahol feleségül ment egy sebészhez, akitől két gyermeke született. Beszélt magyarul, románul, németül, franciául és jiddisül.

Élete teljesen megváltozott 1944 tavaszán, amikor a német hatóságok a fasiszta magyar hatóságokkal együttműködve a szigeti zsidókat gettóba hurcolták és végül deportálták őket.

Gisella Perlt férjével, tinédzser fiával, szüleivel, testvéreivel és családjaikkal együtt deportálták. Gisella az egyetlen túlélő a deportált családjából. A kislányát egy szigeti család mentette meg, mielőtt deportálták volna.

Auschwitzban Gisella Perl megmentette azoknak a terhes nőknek az életét, akiknek Mengele kísérletein kellett volna keresztülmenniük, megszakítva ezzel a terhességüket. Később azt mondta: “Auschwizban a legnagyobb bűn az volt, hogy teherbe esél!” Ez a munka egész életére rányomta a bélyegét.

Szabadulása után New Yorkban, majd Izraelben praktizált tovább, és 43 éves szakmai tevékenysége során több mint 3000 gyermekenek segitett megszületni.

2003-ban Gisella Perl “Orvos voltam Auschwitzban” című könyve alapján készült az “Out of the Ashes” című játékfilm.

Az “Auschwitz Angyala” 1988. december 17-én halt meg az izraeli Herzliyában.

She completed her medical studies in Berlin and returned to Sighet, where she married a surgeon with whom she had two children. She spoke Hungarian, Romanian, German, French and Yiddish.

Her life changed dramatically in the spring of 1944, when Jews from Sighetu Marmației were dragged into the ghetto and eventually deported by the German authorities, in collaboration with the fascist Hungarian authorities.

Gisella Perl was deported along with her husband, teenage son, parents, siblings, and their families. Gisella is the only survivor from her deported family. Her daughter was rescued by a family in Sighet before being deported.

In Auschwitz, Gisella Perl saved the lives of pregnant women who were to undergo Mengele’s experiments, interrupting their pregnancy. She later said, “The biggest crime in Auschwiz was getting pregnant!” This work marked Gisella for the rest of her life.

After her release, she continued to practice in New York, then in Israel, and in her 43 years of professional activity she helped gave birth to more than 3,000 children.

In 2003, based on the book “I was a doctor at Auschwitz” written by Gisella Perl, the feature film “Out of the Ashes” was made.

The “Auschwitz Angel” died on December 17, 1988 in Herzliya, Israel.
