Berger Malcsi

Berger Malcsi s-a născut în anul 1909 în Firiza. S-a căsătorit cu Berger Márton și au locuit pe actuala str. Vasile Alecsandri din Baia Mare. Aveau un mic magazin unde produceau și vindeau sifon. Erau cunoscuți și apreciați în oraș. Nu au avut copii. În mai 1944 au fost forțați de jandarmeria maghiară (aflată în acel moment sub ocupație nazistă) în tabăra de pe Valea Borcutului. În iunie 1944 au ajuns în lagărul de exterminare Auschwitz-Birkenau. Soții Berger au fost uciși în Holocaust.

Berger Malcsi 1909-ben született Firizán. Férjhez ment Berger Mártonhoz és a jelenlegi Vasile Alecsandri(akkor Erdély út) utcában laktak Nagybányán. Volt egy kis boltjuk ahol szódavizet árultak és gyártottak. Ismerték és becsülték őket a városban. Nem volt gyerekük. 1944 májusában a magyar csendőrség (akkor még náci megszállás alatt) a borkúti táborba kényszerítette őket. 1944 júniusában deportálták őket az auschwitz-birkenaui megsemmisítő táborba. Bergeréket a holokausztban gyilkolták meg.

Berger Malcsi was born in 1909 in Firiza. She married Berger Márton and they lived on the current Vasile Alecsandri street in Baia Mare (Romania today). They had a small shop where they produced and sold chiffon. They were known and appreciated in the city. They had no children. In May 1944 they were forced by the Hungarian gendarmerie (at that time under Nazi occupation) into the camp at Valea Borcutului. In June 1944 they arrived at the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. The Bergers were murdered in the Holocaust.
