Familia Berkovits

O familie fericită. Concluzia cercetărilor noastre este că în această fotografie apar Aron, Gizella și Elena. Familia lor a fost una numeroasă, de opt membri. Elena a mai avut 5 frați: Zseni, Rozsi, Regina, Rajzi și Radu. Întreaga familie a fost trezită cu noaptea în cap de jandarmii maghiari, forțați în ghetoul din Baia Mare, iar în cele din urmă au fost deportați în lagărul de exterminare din Auschwitz. Naziștii i-au ucis pe toți. Portretul familiei Berkovits este parte a expoziției Vecinii mei, evreii.

Egy boldog család. Kutatásunk konklúziója, hogy ezen a képen Áron, Gizella és Elena szerepel. Nagy családjuk volt, nyolctagú. Elenának volt még öt testvére: Zseni, Rozsi, Regina, Rajzi és Radu. Az egész családot az éjszaka közepén felébresztették a magyar csendőrök, majd a nagybányai gettóba kényszerítették, végül az auschwitzi megsemmisítő táborba deportálták. Ott a nácik meggyilkolták mindannyiukat. A Berkovits család portréja a Szomszédaim, a zsidók kiállítás része.

A happy family. The conclusion of our research is that Aron, Gizella and Elena appear in this photo. Their family was a large one, with eight members. Elena had 5 more siblings: Zseni, Rozsi, Regina, Rajzi and Radu. The whole family was woken up in the middle of the night by the Hungarian gendarmes, forced into the Baia Mare ghetto, and eventually deported to the Auschwitz extermination camp. The Nazis murdered them all. The portrait of the Berkovits family is part of the exhibition My Neighbors, the Jews.
