🇷🇴 Dora Sorell(Apșan), scriitoare născută la Sighet în anul 1922. Numărul A-7603.
Autoare a romanului epistolar dedicat primei nepoate “Povestiţi-le copiilor: scrisori către Miriam”.
În timpul Holocaustului a fost deportată în Auschwitz alături de familie. Și-a pierdut părinții, doi frați și alți patruzeci de membri din familia apropiată. După întoarcerea din lagăr studiază medicina și se stabilește în Timișoara. După 16 ani i se permite să se reunească cu fraţii.
Emigrează și o perioadă locuieşte în Brazilia, iar în 1964 se mută la New York unde continuă să practice medicina, devenind profesoară la NY Medical College.
Retrasă la pensie în California, alături de copii şi nepoţi, scrie “Tell the Children, Letters to Miriam” un roman epistolar despre experienţele trăite în timpul războiului şi Holocaustului. A vorbit de sute de ori despre experiențele din timpul Holocaustului pentru elevi și studenți în SUA.
Dora Sorell a murit în 2019 la vârsta de 97 de ani.

Az első unokájának szentelt levélregény szerzője: “Tell the Children, Letters to Miriam,”.
A Holokauszt alatt családjával együtt Auschwitzba deportálták. Megölték szüleit, két testvérét és negyven további közvetlen roknát. A táborból hazatérve orvosi tanulmányokat folytatt és Temesváron telepedik le. 16 év után újra egyesülhet testvéreivel.
Kivándorolt és egy ideig Brazíliában élt, majd 1964-ben New Yorkba költözött, ahol folytatta az orvosi gyakorlatot és a NY Medical College-ban tanitott.
Nyugdíjba vonulása utún Kaliforniában telepedett le gyermekeivel és unokáival. Itt megírja a “Tell the Children, Letters to Miriam,” című levélregényt a háború és a Holokauszt során szerzett tapasztalatairól.
Több alkalommal beszélt a Holokauszt élményeiről az Egyesült Államokban diákoknak.
Dora Sorell 2019-ben 97 évesen hunyt el.

During the Holocaust she was deported to Auschwitz with her family. She lost her parents, two brothers and forty other members of immediate family. After returning from the camp, she studied medicine and settled in Timișoara. After 16 years she is allowed to reunite with her brothers.
She emigrated and lived in Brazil for a while and in 1964 she moved to New York where she continued to practice medicine, becoming a teacher at NY Medical College.
