Comunitatea evreiască din Ulmeni, Maramureș

🇷🇴 Evreii trăiau la Ulmeni, Maramureș începând cu secolul XVII. Așezarea lor a fost sprijinită de conții din zonă.
În anul 1850 în Ulmeni trăiau 11 evrei, în anul 1900 106 evrei, iar în anul 1941 comunitatea număra 184 de persoane.
Tzvi Herman Hersch Weiss a fost rabinul comunității de aici, iar Michael Einhorn hahamul. În Ulmeni funcționa și o grupare sionistă întreținută de comerciantul Shmuel Birchet Wohlberg.
Evreii din Ulmeni erau în marea lor majoritate comercianți și meșteșugari. În anul 1938 Nutte Klein și fratele său Jeno Tejovits au înființat o fabrică de sticlă în localitate (Fortuna). Aici munceau 65 de persoane.
În mai 1944 au fost deportați cu toții. După eliberarea din ghetou s-au întors doar 68 de evrei în localitate. Din păcate azi nu mai există nici un evreu în Ulmeni. Doar un cimitir abandonat pe strada Depozitelor. Ar merita mai multă atenție.

🇭🇺 Zsidók a 18. század óta éltek Sülelmeden, Máramaros. Településüket helyi grófok támogatták.
1850 -ben 11 zsidó élt Sülelmeden. 1900 -ra számuk 106-ra nőtt, míg 1941 -ben a közösségnek 184 tagja volt.
Tzvi Herman Hersch Weiss volt a közösség rabbija, Michael Einhorn pedig a haham. A településen Shmuel Birchet Wohlberg kereskedő által támogatott cionista csoport is működött.
Az sülelmedi zsidók többnyire kereskedők és iparosok voltak. 1938 -ban Nutte Klein és testvére, Tejovits Jenő üveggyárat (Fortuna) alapítottak. 65 alkalmazottat foglalkoztatott a gyár.
1944 -ben az egész zsidó lakosságot deportálták. Miután visszanyerték szabadságukat a gettóból, csak 68-an tértek vissza. Sajnos ma nem maradt zsidó Sülelmede. A Depozitelor utcában ma már csak egy elhagyatott temető maradt, amely tanúja, hogy valamikor zsidó közösség létezett itt. Úgy gondoljuk, hogy több figyelmett érdemelne.

In 1850, 11 Jews were calling Ulmeni home. By 1900, their number increased to 106, whilst in 1941, the community had 184 members.
Tzvi Herman Hersch Weiss was the community’s Rabbi, and Michael Einhorn was the haham. A Zionist group, supported by the merchant Shmuel Birchet Wohlberg, was also operating in the area.
The Jews of Ulmeni were mostly merchants and craftsmen. In 1938, Nutte Klein and his brother Jeno Tejovits set up a glass factory (Fortuna). It had 65 employees. In 1944 the entire Jewish population was deported. After they regained their freedom from the ghetto, only 68 returned.
Unfortunately, there are no Jews left in Ulmeni today. Only an abandoned cemetery on the Depozitelor street remains today to tell that a Jewish community existed here. We believe that it should get more attention.
