My neighbours the Jews

Friedmannné Sándornak, a nagybányai zsidó hitközség utolsó megválasztott elnökének a felesége volt. Aktív tagja volt a Wizo-nak (Women’s International Zionist Organization) és a nagybányazi izraelita nőegyetlenk. 1944 májusában a magyar hatóságok a Friedmann családot a városban létesített egyik gettóba kényszerítették. A gettóban uralkodó elviselhetetlen körülmények miatt öngyilkosok lettek. Friedmannné a Szomszédaim, a zsidók című kiállításban is megtekinthető.

Mrs. Friedmann was the wife of Sándor, the last elected president of the Jewish community in Baia Mare. She was an active member of Wizo (Women’s International Zionist Organization) and of Israeli women organization in the city. In May 1944 the Hungarian authorities forced the Friedmann family into one of the ghettos established in the city. Because of the unbearable conditions in the ghetto, the pair committed suicide. Mrs. Friedmann portrait is part of the exhibition My Neighbors, the Jews.
