78 de ani de la deportarea evreilor din Baia Mare

„Și într-adevăr, a sosit și ziua deportării evreilor din Baia Mare. Aceștia au fost transportați în două grupuri.

Prima grupă a plecat în 31 mai 1944 cu un efectiv de 3.073, iar a doua pe 5 iunie cu 2.844.

Primul grup a călătorit mult mai aglomerat, câte 70 de persoane în fiecare vagon. Al doilea grup, care includea membri ai Consiliului Evreiesc, oameni cu diferite poziții în ghetou și cei care au reușit să rateze primul transport, inclusiv bătrâni și bolnavi, călătorește mai puțin aglomerat.

Ambele grupuri au ajuns la Auschwitz-Birkenau, chiar în ghearele doctorului Mengele. El a decis cine poate îndura condițiile și suferințele inumane, pe aceștia i-a lăsat în viață, ceilalți au fost uciși pe loc.”
