Mama mea, Charlotte Nóti, s-a stabilit la Budapesta după ce s-a căsătorit a doua oară. Frații ei, Fülöp Konreich (zis Lala) și Imre, aveau un depozit de cherestea în Baia Mare. În 1942, când Lala a fost încorporat în serviciul de muncă obligatorie, mama și sora mea mai mică au plecat la Baia Mare pentru a prelua conducerea afacerii. Tot în 1942 m-am mutat și eu la Baia Mare.

În mai 1944, mama și sora mea, Șoșana, au fost duse în ghetoul local, iar de acolo au fost deportate la Auschwitz, unde și-au pierdut viața. La 3 mai 1944, eu mă aflam chiar în Gherla; acolo am fost ridicat și dus în ghetoul orașului, de unde m-au transferat ulterior în ghetoul din Cluj, fiind apoi deportat tot la Auschwitz.

De acolo am fost trimis în lagărele de la Kaufering și Landsberg, unde am fost supus la muncă silnică pe șantiere de construcții. Am fost eliberat în 1945, după care m-am întors la Baia Mare. În 1990 am făcut aliyah în Israel și m-am stabilit la Kiryat Bialik, împreună cu soția mea și cei doi copii ai noștri.

Amikor Lala 1942-ben bevonult munkaszolgálatra, anyám és a húgom Nagybányára utaztak, hogy átvegyék az üzlet vezetését. Én magam is 1942-ben költöztem Nagybányára.

1944 májusában édesanyámat és a húgomat, Sosánát bevitték a helyi gettóba, majd onnan Auschwitzba deportálták őket, ahol életüket vesztették. Én 1944. május 3-án éppen Szamosújváron tartózkodtam; ott vittek be a városi gettóba, ahonnan később a kolozsvári gettóba szállítottak, majd szintén Auschwitzba deportáltak.

Innen a kauferingi és a landsbergi táborokba kerültem, ahol kényszermunkán, építkezéseken dolgoztam. 1945-ben szabadultam fel, ami után visszatértem Nagybányára. 1990-ben alijáztam Izraelbe, és Kirját Bialikban telepedtem le a feleségemmel, valamint két gyermekünkkel.

My mother, Charlotte Nóti, lived in Budapest after marrying for the second time. Her brothers, Fülöp Konreich (nicknamed Lala) and Imre, owned a timber business in Baia Mare (Romania today). In 1942, when Lala was called up for forced labor service, my mother and my younger sister traveled to Nagybánya to take over the management of the business. I myself also moved to Nagybánya in 1942.

In May 1944, my mother and my sister, Shoshana, were taken to the local ghetto, and from there they were deported to Auschwitz, where they lost their lives. On May 3, 1944, I happened to be in Gherla; I was taken to the town ghetto there, from where I was later transported to the Cluj ghetto, and subsequently also deported to Auschwitz.

From there, I was sent to the Kaufering and Landsberg camps, where I performed forced labor on construction sites. I was liberated in 1945, after which I returned to Nagybánya. In 1990, I made aliyah to Israel and settled in Kiryat Bialik with my wife and our two children.
