🇷🇴 În localitatea Cicârlău cei mai mulți evrei au trăit în anul 1910, atunci numărul acestora a ajuns la 58 de suflete.

În sat funcționa un lăcaș de rugăciune și exista și un cimitir evreiesc. Dacă erau probleme, comunitatea de aici se adresa de obicei comunității din Baia Mare pentru soluții.

Majoritatea evreilor de aici se ocupau cu negoțul și cultivarea pământului.

Șalom Teitelbaum deținea o benzinărie. Din păcate acest lucru i-a adus și finalul tragic. Acesta a fost acuzat pe nedrept de trei militari maghiari și a fost împușcat în pădurea de lângă Bușag. Corpul i-a fost recuperat după jumătate de an la insistențele fiicei lui. Acest caz a fost printre primele atrocități comise împotriva evreilor în Ardealul anexat în 1940.

În primăvara lui 1944, armata maghiară a strâns evreii din localitate și i-a dus în ghetoul de pe Valea Borcutului. În luna iunie au fost deportați în Auschwitz unde au pierit aproape toți.

Azi în comuna Cicârlău nu mai trăiesc evrei. Există doar un cimitir.

🇭🇺 Nagysikárlón a legtöbb zsidó 1910-ben élt, akkor számuk elérte az 58 személyt.

A faluban volt egy imahely és egy zsidó temető is. Ha gondok adódtak, az itteni közösség általában a nagybányai közösséghez fordult megoldásért.

Az nagysikárlói zsidók nagy része kereskedelemmel és földműveléssel foglalkozott.

Shalom Teitelbaumnak volt egy benzinkútja. Sajnos ez tragikus véget is hozott számára. Három magyar katona jogtalanul vádolta meg és a Buság melletti erdőben lelőtte. Holttestét fél év után vitték el a nagysikárlói zsidó temetőbe lánya kérésére. Ez a gyilkosság az elsők között volt az 1940-ben elcsatolt Erdélyben a zsidók ellen elkövetett atrocitások között.

1944 tavaszán a magyar hadsereg összegyűjtötte a helységből származó zsidókat és a Borkúti gettóba vitte őket. 1944 júniusán Auschwitzba deportálták őket, ahol többségüket megölték.

There was a place of prayer in the village and there was also a Jewish cemetery. If there were problems, the community usually turned to the community in Baia Mare for solutions.

Shalom Teitelbaum owned a gas station. Unfortunately, this also brought him a tragic end. He was unjustly accused by three Hungarian soldiers and was shot in the forest near Bușag. His body was recovered after half a year at the insistence of his daughter. This case was among the first atrocities committed against Jews in the Transylvania annexed in 1940.

In the spring of 1944, the Hungarian army rounded up the Jews from the locality and took them to the ghetto on Valea Borcutului. In June they were deported to Auschwitz where almost all of them perished.

Today, there are no more Jews living in Cicârlău commune. There is only one cemetery.
