Wider Bella

Ea este Bella Wider, o tânără născută în regiunea noastră, a cărei poveste a rămas vie datorită memoriei transmise de familie și a documentelor păstrate în arhive. Dintr-un formular de mărturie (Page of Testimony) păstrat la Memorialul Yad Vashem, completat în vara anului 1976 de către fratele ei, Albert Wider, reușim să reconstituim frânturi dureroase din destinul ei.

Bella Wider s-a născut într-o familie de evrei din orașul Baia Mare. A fost fiica lui Eliyahu și a Tziporei Wider. Anii grei ai războiului au găsit-o locuind în Dej, un alt nod important al comunităților evreiești din nordul Transilvaniei, localitate care a devenit și ultimul ei domiciliu stabil.

Anul 1944 a adus cu sine punerea în aplicare a tragicelor măsuri de deportare în masă a populației evreiești din întreaga regiune. La fel ca mii de alți evrei, Bella a fost smulsă din realitatea ei cotidiană și trimisă pe drumul fără întoarcere de către autoritățile maghiare.

Conform mărturiei fratelui ei, Bella Wider a fost ucisă în lagărul de concentrare și exterminare de la Auschwitz în cursul aceluiași an, 1944.

A Jad Vasem Emlékközpontban őrzött tanúságtételi lap (Page of Testimony) alapján – melyet fivére, Albert Wider töltött ki 1976 nyarán – sikerül rekonstruálnunk fájdalmas sorsának friss szilánkjait.

Wider Bella egy nagybányai zsidó családba született, Elijahu és Cipóra Wider leányaként. A háború nehéz éveiben Désen lakott, amely az észak-erdélyi zsidóság egyik fontos központja volt, és ez a település vált az utolsó állandó lakhelyévé is.

Az 1944-es esztendő elhozta a térség teljes zsidó lakosságát sújtó, tömeges deportálások tragikus intézkedéseinek végrehajtását. Több ezer sorstársához hasonlóan Bellát is kiszakították a mindennapi valóságából, és a magyar hatóságok a visszaút nélküli útra kényszerítették.

Fivére tanúvallomása szerint Wider Bellat még ugyanabban az évben, 1944-ben meggyilkolták az auschwitzi koncentrációs és megsemmisítőtáborban.

This is Bella Wider, a young woman born in our region whose story lives on, kept alive by the enduring memories of her family and the documents preserved in historical archives. Through a Page of Testimony safeguarded at the Yad Vashem Memorial-completed in the summer of 1976 by her brother, Albert Wider-we are able to reconstruct the painful fragments of her fate.

Bella was born into a Jewish family in Baia Mare, the daughter of Eliyahu and Tzipora Wider. During the dark and difficult years of the war, she lived in Dej, another vital hub for Jewish communities in Northern Transylvania. This town would ultimately become her last permanent home.

The year 1944 brought the tragic enforcement of mass deportations targeting the entire region’s Jewish population. Like thousands of others, Bella was violently torn from her everyday life and forced onto a path of no return by the Hungarian authorities.

According to her brother’s harrowing testimony, Bella Wider was killed in the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp later that same year.
